The percentage of houses in the parish in 1992 was:

  • Pre-1900 - 47%
  • 1901-1950 - 11%
  • 1951-1980 - 25%
  • 1980 onwards - 17%

Ten houses are thatched and 32 previously had a different use:

Barns- 9Outbuilding/Other- 2
Shops- 7Police Station- 1
Farmhouses- 6Post Office- 1
Coachhouses- 2Rectory- 1

Looking to the future, VIEWS ON HOUSING DEVELOPMENT are widespread. The majority of people are not opposed to further development but mainly wish it to be restricted to within the present built-up areas:

56 people said- no new building
64 people said- single buildings between existing buildings
98 people said- conversions of existing buildings (eg barns)
73 people said- small numbers of buildings
102 people said- sites within the built-up area
70 people said- expansion on the edge of the built-up area

Twenty-three people say they want a house in the area - mainly starter homes (14) followed by family homes (5) and homes for the elderly (4).
