Development around the village

The image below shows how the village has expanded in recent times, and how it will likely expand further over the next few years:

As one can imagine, this extra development along with similar developments in neighbouring villages such as Dolton and Winkleigh has put additional strain on the local infrastructure and it will be interesting to see if further developments will include measures to address these problems and will provide opportunities for better public parking, improvements to the main road, the B3217 through the village, to accomodate the additional traffic, as well as local employment opportunities and a new School, to name but a few. The Devon Local plan states that development should not in principal, take place unless the local infrastructure can accomodate it, in line with national sustainable development principals, but sadly all too often this is not adhered to. Lets hope High Bickington can be different?
