Project 2000 under threat? |
Tim Webb, the initial Chairman and, some may say, the driving force behind
'Project 2000' has been forced to resign as a result of a few individuals who felt his presence as Chairman
to be threatening!
'Project 2000' was started following an offer from the County Council to hand over the
buildings and land that is 'Little Bickington' farm, following the expiry of the
present tenancy. The hope is that the land will be used to the benefit of the village rather than
sold to developers which would otherwise be the case should the project fail.
Luckily Tim has remained with the project in the capacity of Secretary but it must be said
his future with the group is obviously in doubt if such allegations continue. It has been
suggested that Tim's 'strength of character and willingness to accept, what is a mammoth
task for such a small community, were vital in the role as Chairman.

Farewell to other longtime residents
The village was saddened to hear of the death of Mrs Dorothy Gill one time Landlady
of the Golden Lion Inn and mother to Barbara Barrett. Also, to the death of Tom
Balckmore who moved to Scotland to be with his family shortly before Christmas but died soon
afterwards. Two more familiar faces that will be greatly missed.
